A LEIGH man has been cleared of attacking a nightclub bouncer with a cosh but convicted of violent disorder.
Christian Henry, aged 27, of Larch Road, will be sentenced next Thursday after pre-sentence reports have been compiled on his three accomplices.
A Liverpool Crown Court jury heard how the four men were among a gang who turned up "mob-handed" at Barbarella's nightclub and bar in King Street, Leigh, in April last year.
They were allegedly armed with weapons, including coshes, bottles, a screwdriver and a knife and in the resulting fracas several doormen were injured, some seriously.
The victims included Anthony James, who had been off duty but had gone along to assist colleagues as it was feared there would be trouble following incidents in previous weeks.
Henry denied that they had gone along intending to cause trouble. Following the jury's verdicts he was remanded in custody.
His co-accused are Ian Rawson, aged 32, of Willow Crescent, David Higgins, aged 30, of Tennyson Avenue and Christopher Pemberton, aged 21, of Liza Street, all Leigh. They pleaded guilty to violent disorder before Henry's trial began.
