THE Bill Lennard Memorial Pairs competition final, in aid of St Ann's Hospice, held at Little Lever Workingmen's Club, was won by Bolton's Gary Cartmel and Brian Wright on scores of 180, 140(2), 100(5).
They beat Little Lever's David Owen and Derek Walmsley 100(5) 2-0 in an exciting final.
Quarter finals: B Wright/G Cartmel beat B Scholes/J Watt, A Matthews/J Warburton beat S Osborne/A Berry, D Owen/D Walmsley beat D Mayor/A Redford, A Brocklehurst/J Cunliffe beat A Baldwin/B Ochwat. Semi-final Wright/Cartmel beat Matthews/Warburton, Owen/Walmsley beat Brocklehurst/Cunliffe, Warburton/Matthews averaged 105 per throw but were still beat.
In the Bill Lennard Memorial High Score competition, the following scored 100. J Watt, B Scholes, A Openshaw, A Berry, D Mayor, A Redford, J Hill, D Parker, C Parkinson, J Hardy, S Whittaker 140, D Owen, D Walmsley, A Baldwin, A Brocklehurst, J Cunliffe, B Ochwat, J Warburton, A Matthews 180, B Wright, G Cartmel with the prize going to Gary Cartmel.
The cup and prizes were presented by club president, Joe Overton. A big thanks to Lee Allison and David Crossland. The match raised £225 for St Ann's Hospice.
