A GROUP of residents who came together to get things done in their own community are set to officially mark their first year.
On Wednesday (Feb 27) Goshen Community Association will hold its inaugural Annual General Meeting at 7.30pm in Millwood Primary School, Fletcher Fold Road, Bury.
Established in early summer last year, the group has operated with an informal management committee and has been supported by the council's Whitefield and Unsworth Area Board.
Area Board Chair, Cllr Alan Matthews, said: "A lot has been achieved over the past few months and, in particular, there has been a special focus on both protecting and improving Goshen Woods. That has resulted in several community clean-up days and barbecues, bird building sessions for local children, plus securing funding for footpath, fencing and other improvements. The results are now visible for all to see."
At the AGM, a new management committee and officers for the association will be elected.
There will also be a guest speaker from Groundwork Bury to provide fresh ideas on preserving woods and wildlife.
