A LETTER has been sent to dentists in Wigan by the chief trading standards officer warning they face prosecution over teeth whitening procedures.
A loophole in EU law means dentists are flouting the law if they carry out the procedure which involves applying a bleaching gel to the surface of the teeth.
Dentists may face six months in jail or a £5,000 fine for offering treatment.
