A SURVEY of farmers has shown they are twice as likely to consider suicide compared with the general population.
A total of 425 farmers from Preston, Norwich and Hereford took part in the report for the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Participants completed a questionnaire in 1999 to assess their mental health.
Other results showed six per cent of farmers reported having poor mental health -- lower than the general population.
