GREATER Manchester Police is leading the way in ensuring its website can be used by people with sight difficulties.
The redesigned site at www.gmp.police.uk is the first police site to be accredited as part of the Royal National Institute for the Blind "See It Right" campaign.
The website gives details of policing services and the latest including traffic information, and encourages people to help in the fight against crime.
Assistant Chief Constable Ian Seabridge, responsible for community and internal affairs, said: "This is an important step towards ensuring everyone can log on and keep in touch with us via the website."
Most recently it was used to establish an on-line book of condolence following the death of DC Stephen Oake, which has been accessed by thousands across the world.
"The site is a valuable resource for communities and provides up to the minute information about how officers and staff are working to make Greater Manchester safer.
