KAREN Stephen is having problems buying her butties in M&S because of OAPs with VDTs (very dangerous trolleys).

Well diddums! But Karen is so irate about "rude" OAPs pushing their VDTs between her and her butties, she wants readers to back her "Only Workers Shop at Lunch Time" campaign.

Well, maybe Karen's campaign can run alongside that of irate readers who have, in the past, sent letters to the Bolton Evening News seeking to stop OAPs using buses during peak times. Oh! And no doubt there are those who will say OAPs should not be allowed to drive during peak times, adding to the congestion.

With peak times taking up much of the day, and with lunchtimes being so flexible, OAPs would be left with about an hour and a half in the morning to travel from home, shop, and get back (I've stood that long in the checkout queue at Sainsburys), and about an hour and a quarter in the afternoon (I waited that long for my wife outside the ladies toilets).

But what about the many OAPs who come to Bolton from other towns? Would they be rounded up and coralled at an Age Concern meeting place during lunchtime? They would probably have to have tea there too, because they wouldn't be allowed to travel home before 6pm. Well, I get my bus pass on April 1, but with nice people like Karen making us feel so welcome in town and on the buses, maybe we should stay home and live on meals-on-wheels. Or maybe meals-on-wheels could visit Karen at the Bolton Evening News to save her shins from VDTs at M&S.

But, to be serious, come on you OAPs in M&S, stop hacking the hacks with your VDTs or we will all be banned.
