THINGS went badly for Bolton singer Damon Gough when he went busking -- he earned just £1.60.
Badly Drawn Boy sang his new single All Possibilities for 90 minutes outside Waterloo Station in London and was shunned by commuters.
This reaction was captured on two hidden cameras and the footage will be used in the video for the song.
The 32-year-old, whose latest album is Have You Fed The Fish, said: "A lot of people didn't believe it was me.
"I sympathise with the real buskers -- most people just don't care."
Damon donned his trademark woolly hat for the gig, which was played with an open guitar case at his feet.
He was recognised by a handful of pedestrians but most passed him by without a second glance.
The biggest donation handed to the Mercury music Prize winner was 40p from a man who rode up on a motorbike. Damon, who was brought up in Breightmet and went to Bolton's Thornleigh Salesian College , said: "He told me I was worth 40p of anyone's money which was quite nice."
The singer has had a phenomenal rise since the release of his debut album, The Hour of the Bewilderbeast. Its success led him to be asked to pen the soundtrack to the Hugh Grant blockbuster film, About a Boy, and he has since been nominated for a host of awards including one at the recent Brits.
His concerts have attracted equal measures of brickbats and bouquets. Damon engages in conversations with his audience and has even handed out pictures of his family to the crowd.
His next single will be released in April and music critics are tipping it to be a top 10 hit.
