A MAN accused of trying to abduct two sisters has gone on trial at Bolton Crown Court.
The court was told that Andrew Davenport tried to entice the sisters to go with him for a lollipop.
When they refused, he picked up the younger girl and slung her across his shoulder, the jury heard.
Eric Lamb, prosecuting, said the two sisters, aged 11 and eight, had been left playing at the park, at Moses Gate, in Farnworth, by their father, who had gone on errands.
When the girls' grandmother passed by and saw what was happening, Davenport told her their father had left them in his care. The court was told that Davenport, who denies two charges of child abduction, claimed the incident was a misunderstanding.
He claimed that he had asked them if they wanted a lollipop and one of the girls had agreed, but the other then started swearing at him.
