I WOULD like to take issue with Mr G Schofield's letter regarding charging teachers to park.

I find it strange that a former school caretaker, at the primary school I attended, who always went to work on his scooter at a time when the school did not have a car park, would write such a ridiculous letter. Teachers are not the only profession within the country to whom car parking spaces are sometimes, but not always, available at their place of work. Charging workers for parking spaces has been suggested before and dismissed as "unworkable" because workers will simply park on the streets, rather than pay to use a designated car park.
