YOU can buy your groceries at all hours of the day and night, and now fitness fanatics can work out round-the-clock.
All Seasons Leisure Centre, in Water Street, Chorley, is to open its pool and gym 24-hours-a-day, from next week, on a trial basis.
It is believed this will be the first council-owned leisure facility in the county to try out such a scheme.
The extended opening hours are in response to requests from customers at the centre, managed by private operators Community Leisure Services, looking for somewhere to work out, or relax, at night.
David Jones, Chorley Borough Council's head of leisure services, said: "These days there are people working unusual hours and it seemed a good idea to encourage greater use of the centre at night. People will be able to come and use the centre when it's convenient.
"We may well be the first leisure centre in Lancashire to offer 24-hour opening, so once again Chorley is the pioneer of a new idea. It's a great credit to the council that they've responded well to customer feedback."
Council leisure bosses have taken out advertisements and put up notices to make people aware of the new opening hours, but centre users may have to wait a while yet for a more permanent 24-hour leisure facility.
Mr Jones said: "We'll just have to wait and see how it goes. I hope it's a success, but it's good that we're willing to give it a go."
The trial lasts from 7am on Monday until Saturday, May 8.
