I WAS very disturbed when I read your report on February 26 headlined 'Car parking charges -- the 10 key questions'.
It was good to see that the Bolton Evening News sought extensive comments from Bolton Council on the changes to parking charges in the town, as reported.
However, I would like to clarify my position after an inaccuracy in that report. I was attributed as saying that I would like to see more car parking in the town centre, but this has never been my position.
In fact, I believe there is ample, secure, parking in Bolton town centre for anyone who wants to enjoy all we have to offer here.
I shall reiterate that I, as Town Centre Manager, would, for obvious reasons, prefer car parking charges to be lowered to attract shoppers into town -- and actually, under the council's current proposals, certain charges are being slightly reduced, which I welcome.
It also implied that that I said that this would raise profits at council car parks, which I never said and would never say this, as this is not my opinion.
