SOPHIE Gore from Horwich CC scooped her first National title, at the British Schools (BSCA) National Cyclo-Cross Championships in Leeds.
Sophie won the U10 age group after a spectacular race, which she led from the outset to add to her recent success in the North West Cyclo-Cross League, in which she won the U12 Girl Championship and came second overall.
Sophie also won the Team event for the U12 along with team-mates Andrew Davies and younger sister Clare Gore. Nine year old Sophie managed to claim two first places on the way to winning the Girls Championship, outclassing the boys at the Horwich CC Cyclo-Cross at Queens Park, Bolton and also at Macclesfield.
This has been the climax to a very successful years racing for young Sophie, who has claimed many victories including BSCA Yorkshire/NE Time Trial, Mountain Bike, Hill Climb and Cyclo-Cross Championships, Winner of Young Riders Jersey at the Lichfield Jubilee Races, and Girls Youth Championship at the Scienceinsport.com League.
