WE are writing in response to the article in the Bolton Evening News regarding Marylawns Residential Care Home.
Risk assessments, monitoring, individual care plans and health and safety standards are, of course, vital in protecting the most vulnerable members of society, but, to elderly residents, other criteria often have more value.
Our mother was a resident at Marylawns for over six years and, during her time there, was cared for in an atmosphere not unlike that in a large family home -- yes, the home might not have been professional, institutionalised and almost sterile as many homes have become, but Miss Wilkinson did care, was never thoughtless and treated the residents as members of an extended family.
