REGARDING the proposed increase in car parking fees.
Yet again the council is hitting the motorists of Bolton to raise an extra £45,000 to plug a hole in the council budget.
I also read that the council has 50 parking spaces for its 60 members.
May I suggest an easy way to obtain the £45,000 and not hit the motorist. Let the council give up these spaces to the public.
Say each space only took £2 per day, ie £160, for a six-day week £960, for 52 weeks a year -- BINGO £49,920. Surplus £4,920 to reduce or halve present fees.
The councillors who drive would then see the problems drivers have first hand. As some councillors are 60 or over, they could use their bus pass, and be more in touch with the people of Bolton.
