At central zone town centre car parks -- including those on Central Street, Back Cheap Side and Kings Street -- the half hour and three hour parking tickets will be abolished forcing drivers into higher bands.
A two hour ticket will rise 10p to £2 but the price of a four hour stay will be dropped by 50p to £3.50.
At intermediate zone car parks, including All Saints Street, Bath Street and Johnson Street, a one hour ticket will rise from 60p to 70p and two hour tickets will go up 10p to £1.30.
At all other council car parks, including Chorley Street and Breightmet Street, the only change will be in the price of an all day Saturday ticket which will rise from £1.90 to £2.
Road side parking will also be affected by the changes.
A half hour ticket will rise from 60 p to 70p and an hour stay from £1.10 to £1.20.
