WIGAN Warriors' superstar players insist they will not be taking Challenge Cup opponents Doncaster lightly after a week of soul searching writes Chris Hall
The current cup holders crashed to a shock defeat in their opening Super League clash at Castleford last week but it was not only coach Stuart Raper who was furious with the performance.
The players were also incensed at the display, which saw them leading until they conceded two tries in the final five minutes at The Jungle.
And young stand-off Sean O'Loughlin claims their frustrations have made for an especially productive week of preparation, as the players are desperate to atone for the loss.
"It was a bad result for us but we would only make it worse by letting it affect us in a negative way," he said.
"We hope we can put all this behind us with a win in the Challenge Cup this weekend.
"All the lads are really up for this game. We had a great video session this week, where loads of players contributed to it. We got a lot out of that."
O'Loughlin, who takes over from injured skipper Andy Farrell at loose forward, admits Wigan will face a fiercely determined opposition, particularly in the opening stages of each half.
"There are bound to be periods when they get on top of us," he said.
"That's inevitable but we are hoping our Super League experience will help us. We have to weather the storm and then hope our ball skills will see us through."
