MAPS and compasses could become a thing of the past with a new system developed by Liverpool John Moores University.
Together with Cumbria Tourist Board the university has come up with a new prototype map on hand-held computers.
Called LAND, the system can create 3D maps then bring them to life by downloading information to suit the users' interests, like wildlife facts.
