BOLTON Ladies Hockey Club had a great result when they overcame Manto 2-0 in a committed encounter that featured many goalscoring chances for both sides.
Bolton started brightly and forced some early chances but they found the Manto's keeper on top form and were denied. However they eventually managed a breakthrough when Louise Heaney tucked the ball away after good work from Julie Bluer and Bolton held onto this lead going into half time.
At the start of the second half Manto came out determined to level the score and laid siege to the Bolton goal for the first few minutes, however the Bolton defence stood firm and rode their luck at times to maintain the one goal advantage.
Bolton eventually started to regain more possession and had some more chances come their way through fast breaks from midfield. It was during one of these that a long injury stoppage occurred which reduced Bolton to 10 players and required the attendance of an ambulance. Despite this loss Bolton continued to attack and Julie Bluer made the game safe with a deserved goal.
