A MAN convicted of four counts of inciting children to commit acts of gross indecency has been given a community penalty.
Paul Williams had denied the offences involving four girls aged between 11 and 14, which happened on a bus travelling from Bury to Radcliffe, but was convicted after trial.
At Bolton Crown Court Judge Brian Carter QC said Williams needed help not custody and made him the subject of an 18 month Community Rehabilitation Order.
A jury found, Williams, aged 55, of Rydal Close, Bury, guilty on all four charges.
The jury heard that Williams had admitted talking to two of the girls about paedophilia.
When the girls asked the driver of the 97 bus to call the police Williams had forced his way off the bus, struggled with the driver and hurled tins of beans at him.
Williams said he had talked to the girls but claimed he had no intention of touching them.
He admitted exposing himself briefly but said that he was not trying to harm them.
