TONGE Amateur Boxing Club's James Huddle marked his debut in the ring with a mature performance beyond his years.
Fighting a giant in 6ft 8in pugilist Luke Walker, the 16-year-old won by way of a unanimous points decision.
He undid the Manchester man with a series of raking jabs which wowed the partisan crowd and delighted Tonge's head coach Mark Liptrot.
"James did everything we told him and more," he said.
"When I saw the size of his opponent I was slightly unnerved but James was as cool as a cucumber and out boxed him from start to finish.
"We've unearthed a diamond of a boxer here and there's more to come from the Tonge Moor mine over the next few months."
