RACHEL Pounds was the pick of the Bolton Harriers squad which travelled to London for the National Cross Country Championships.
Northern Champion Rachel finished 18th in the Under 13 girls section.
Katie Smith finished 38th in the Under 17s, while Liz Holt ran well for 41st in the Under 15s. All three will compete for Greater Manchester in the English Schools Championships in Brighton on March 8th.
The senior mens' team was depleted by injuries and loss of form but Pete Edmondson ran well for 158th from a field of 1,300 on his national debut.
At Lostock, Bolton Harriers triumphed in the team race. Andy Parker was second, Ian Selby eighth and Steve Kenyon 26th.
