Horwich runner Paul Muller was not the only success story of Radcliffe Athletic Club's 12 miles trail race.
Robin Sedman-Smith of West Cheshire AC was second in 72.22, followed in by Rob Jackson, another Horwich runner.
Bolton's Ken Fowler looked to be in good form, taking the over-50s prize in 79.41.
Salford's Beth Allott knocked eight minutes off the ladies record with 76.28 only to come second to Altrincham's former international Jane Spark, who clocked 75.54.
Radcliffe's Michael Aspinall took fifth place in 73.52, while Alec Steele, used the run as a comeback after injury. He completed the 12 miles successfully in 92.44 to finish 63rd.
