A MAN admitted trying to have sex with a pregnant woman who was sleeping next to her daughter, but he told a court she had been flirting with him.
Munib Sarcevic said that once the woman told him she was expecting a baby, he stopped and left the room.
Bosnian-born Sarcevic, who has five children in the UK and one in Bosnia, said he did not attempt to rape the woman and claimed they had been flirting and kissing downstairs.
The woman and her six-year-old daughter had been allowed to sleep at Sarcevic's house after she had walked out on her partner.
When arrested by police and interviewed, Sarcevic made no comment.
Sarcevic, aged 44, of Shepherd Cross Street, Bolton, is on trial at Bolton Crown Court facing one count of attempted rape. He denies the charge.
Giving evidence via an interpreter, Sarcevic said he was ashamed to admit that he had kissed the woman while his wife made them food and drink.
He claimed that later the woman had come downstairs for an ashtray and indicated to him to follow her upstairs for sex.
But he said that when he got there, she was pretending to be asleep.
She told she him she was pregnant and he left.
