AMNESTY International is especially concerned with the impact that armed conflict has on the civilian population.
In the event of armed conflict in Iraq, we insist that all those engaged in the conflict -- including the USA and UK, the Iraqi forces and Iraqi armed opposition groups -- must closely respect the principles of international humanitarian law, as enshrined in the Geneva Convention.
The rights of the Iraqi people are already being gravely violated by the current government, and armed conflict in Iraq is very likely to seriously worsen the current situation.
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at Friends Meeting House, Silverwell Street, Bolton, at 8pm. New members are welcome.
