I WRITE again about Moses Gate station, and the questions I put to Mr Barker (First North Western) about a fortnight ago. I see that Mr Barker has failed (so far) to respond to my letter, and the points that I inquired about.
So can we assume then that there is some substance in the rumours that Moses Gate, Farnworth and Kearsley are to be closed, in order to allow a Bolton to Salford Crescent rail expressway? If not, then could he please go on record and make a statement denying these rumours?
It does seem strange that certain country or lightly populated stations seem to be getting regular half-hourly airport, evening and Sunday services, yet Moses Gate is in a highly-populated area, is at a main road junction and has one of the most popular local tourist attractions (Moses Gate Country Park) and gets a skeleton service?
I hope Mr Barker will respond soon, and I must ask one last question. What do our local councillors and MPs think of this, and what do they intend to do about it?
