THE English National Ballet returns to the Palace Theatre, Manchester with Ronald Hynd's production Coppelia.
Choreographed to Leo Delibes' vibrant score, Coppelia follows the fortunes of the eccentric old dollmaker, Dr Coppelius.
Having created the beautiful doll of the ballet's title, the dollmaker is driven by his obsession to bring his creation to life, leading to much hilarity.
Desmond Heeley's brilliant set and costume design are truly stunning and the contrast between the bright sunny scenes in the village square and the mysterious interior of Dr Coppelius' workshop is achieved with magnificent lighting designs.
On the opening night in Manchester, the Czech ballerina, Daria Klimentova will dance the leading role of Swanilda with the Swedish dancer, Jan-Erik Wilkstrom in the role of her fiance, Franz.
The role of Dr Coppelius will be danced by Kevin Richmond.
Coppelia is at the Palace Theatre from 4-8 March. Box office 0161 242 2503
