DOBBIES A moved a huge step close to the BSF Over 35s League Division One title with a 3-1 victory over high-flying Pennington.
The victory moves Dobbies four points clear of third placed Pennington, who have a game in hand.
In between are Stand Athletic, three points behind the leaders but also with a game in hand.
Dobbies were leading 2-0 at half time but Pennington hit back with a penalty to set up a gripping finish before a third Dobbies goal settled the match.
Stand moved into second with an impressive 6-0 demolition of Willows, a hat-trick from Wheelhouse doing most of the damage.
Breightmet United's good run continued with a 2-0 away win at Cross Keys, with a stunning free kick from man of the match Steve Carney being the highlight.
The shock of the day came when Colliers Rest beat Turton 5-2 at home, helped by a great Roy Naylor hat-trick. The result lifts them up two places off the bottom and out of the relegation zone.
In Division Two Hayward Old Boys closed the gap on Hare Athletic to three points by beating Daten AFC 4-1. Daten's recent poor run leaves them next to bottom.
In Division Three only one point separates the top five teams. Old Smithillians beat leaders Bottom Bulls Head 1-0 at home and took over at the top from them.
Ainsworth Fossils moved into second after beating Dobbies C 2-1 at home.
Rumworth and Hulton went third after beating Westhoughton Wingates 3-0 away and Walkden AFC thumped the Founders Arms 7-0 as Morrison's hat-trick helped them up to fourth spot.
The big loser of the day were Bottom Bulls Head whose defeat saw them drop from leaders to fifth place. At the bottom, Urmston MC and DF Lostock fought out a 1-1 draw which did not do either any good.
