PARENTS can now be fined £2,000 for taking their children on holiday in term time.
Who are these people who say when parents can go on holiday? I think these people are on very big wages who can go on expensive holidays.
I feel sorry for young parents today, with dear mortgages, high living standards to maintain, and most women having to work as well, so cheap holidays are a bonus. I also blame travel agents -- as soon as there are school holidays, the prices go up.
As for children not learning for one or two weeks, resulting in long-term education problems, it is discipline they are short of in school today.
So, as someone who understands why parents want cheap holidays during term time, please allow them their June and September holidays again.
I'm not a young parent. I am a grandma bringing up two grandchildren aged 10 and five.
