TYLDESLEY RU suddenly found themselves dragged back in the relegation picture when visitors Fleetwood left St. George's Park with the points following a 20-13 win.
Despite taking a early lead with a Mark Dickinson penalty, Fleetwood drew level, also with a penalty, to bring an uninspiring first half to an end.
The second half saw Tyldesley try and fail to breach the Fleetwood line and when a period of pressure from Fleetwood ended with a Tyldesley player going for an interception which he knocked on, the referee, to the surprise of many, awarded Fleetwood a penalty try, which was easily converted.
Tyldesley could only respond with a Dickinson drop goal and penalty.
Next Saturday leaders Oldham visit Tyldesley for what should be an excellent game for the expected large crowd.
Tyldesley Knights travelled to the coast to face Fleetwood and despite playing most of the rugby went down 25-17.
, tries from James Eckersley and Howard Hughes where both converted by Fraser Mackintosh who also landed a penalty. This Saturday the Knights face local rivals Wigan at St. George's Park.
Tyldesley Dragons game against Fleetwood was cancelled by the visitors giving them the week off and allowing the Dragons to be fresh when they visit Wigan on Saturday to defend their unbeaten record.
