BOLTON Barbershop Harmony Club's Cottontown Chorus has been working in harmony with charities during the past three months.

The group has been performing free for a variety of causes, and on Saturday will sing in a show at Thornleigh Salesian College, Astley Bridge, to raise money for a new sports facility.

Let's Make Music will also feature The Thornleigh Staff Choir, Thornleigh Junior Brass Ensemble and Thornleigh Junior Orchestra. Tickets, £3 adults and £1 children, are from the college office.

Other recent Cottontown Chorus charity concerts have been in Ripon Cathedral in aid of The Jenny Ruth Workshops for the Disabled in York, and at the Victoria Hall's Bolton Sing Day.

The choir, which was formed 24 years ago, now has more than 60 singing members.

They took second place in last year's British Barbershop Chorus competition, and hope to go one better at the contest in Harrogate later this year.
