I ENTIRELY agree with Robert M Goodman's letter, "Poll Tax by the back door".
Every year it's the same. Council tax is rising more than inflation. We do not see the benefit except daft schemes such as the "slab forms" in Victoria Square, and amateurish elephants further along the precinct.
The councillors have never been our friends. They chickened out in support of us anti-poll tax protesters, and ejected us from the public gallery. Could this have been because they gained by it?
Now they are letting us down again by allowing developers on to greenfield sites. In Westhoughton alone there are many brownfield sites, some of which have been recently created.
