NOW that The Water Place has closed, can anyone at Bolton Council answer the following questions:
Why did a building that cost approximately £5 million only have a life of 14 years? What was put out to tender? Was the specification rigidly adhered to?
After the land is sold off for a price of £2 million, and the debt of £1.2 million is paid back to central government, that in my book is a loss of £4.2 million.
I also seem to remember that this council sold the Birtenshaw land for £1 million, then had to repay the £1 million back in a court action. If this had been a private company, heads would have rolled. Is this the reason why my council tax has risen by 8.5pc?
