THE hundreds of young mourners who gathered at the funeral of 20-year-old Chris Morris spoke volumes.

The doors to the Overdale West Chapel could not be shut because so many of his friends packed into the chapel to say their last goodbyes.

Chris died on February 20 when he was crushed by wooden boards in an accident at Starlight Bedrooms in Farnworth where he worked.

He was due to become a father in June and was setting up home with his girlfriend, Steph, in Farnworth. He was already like a father to Steph's two-year-old son Mason.

On Wednesday his coffin was carried into the chapel by four of his closest friends to the sound of Usher's Can You Help Me. The coffin was followed by his parents, Karen and Ian, sister Jenny and girlfriend Steph. After prayers and Bible readings, the Rev Peter Tompkins said: "Chris enjoyed the company of friends, liked a wide range of music, and was always ready to help anyone at any time.

"He lived life full of spirit and enthusiasm and was always laughing.

"He loved to socialise with mates and go out for meals with his family. Kids loved him."
