THE former chief executive of a hospital which fiddled waiting list figures has hit back, saying she has been made a scapegoat.
Jane Herbert apologised to the South Manchester NHS Trust, but said she was under pressure from NHS chiefs.
On one occasion she claims she was encouraged to change figures because they "weren't good enough". She added she did not believe patients' health was affected by the fiddle. The Department of Health refused to comment.
