A FOOTBALL fan who has just crossed the Pennines to live in Bolton is facing up to the toughest of sacrifices -- parting with his treasured car number plate.
And it is all because his wife wants some money to decorate their new house.
Lifelong Bradford City fan Ian Cooper has grudgingly advertised his "Number One Bradford" plate for sale.
He is sure that the plates N1 BFD will appeal to both Bradford City fans and supporters of the Bradford Bulls rugby league team -- or even a "number one" Bradford businessman or dignitary.
Ian, his wife Diane, and their three children have moved to Harwood from Bingley, near Bradford.
He said: "We have been doing some home improvements in our new house, buying curtains and carpets and my number plate is having to go.
"I bought it only a few weeks ago without telling my wife.
"But as soon as she knew about it, she said: 'No Chance'. So I am having to sell it."
He is offering the number plate for sale at £799 -- or nearest offer.
Ian originally bought the plates from the DVLA in Swansea after spotting it on their website.
"I have always supported Bradford City, although I am no longer a season ticket holder.
"It is a shame, as it is such a cool number plate for a City fan to have, especially in the club's centenary year."
Potential number plate buyers can call Ian on 01204 363782.
