THE Rev Michael Williams in his recent column suggested that some practising Christians would say that those that declare themselves Christians and do nothing about it, like going to church, are frauds.
Which church would this be then? The one the Rev Williams subscribes to, or some other church?
Well, I can only speak for this striving Christian. Here are some examples why I will have NO dealings with Christian churches.
Maybe Rev Williams can explain them in a future column.
1. Why do the ministers of the Christian Church wear such elaborate raiments (dress) that make them look like Merlin the magician? Could it be that they adopted these things along with other practises when Christianity came face to face with Paganism in the first and second centuries, simply to gain a foothold over Paganism, and never abandoned these practices? Read Paul 2. COR 11: 5 and what he thinks of so-called superfine apostles.
2. Why women have been ordained as ministers into the Church? How can they conduct a church service when it clearly says in Christian scripture at 1 COR 14:34 "Let the women keep silent in the congregation". Look also at 1 Tim 2:11 which says the same.
3. As for multi-faith which is being talked about by others. Paul's letter to the Corinthians 2 COR 6:14-17, does not seem to agree. It says, as I read it, "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers".
I may not be the Rev Williams' sort of Christian, but I leave that in God's capable hands.
