LIFELONG dancing partners are quickstepping it out of Bolton to teach salsa in the sun.

Edwin and Margaret Halliday, who have been married for 47 years and have been dancing partners for even longer, have taught dance at various venues in Bolton, including New Bury Community Centre in Farnworth and Emmanuel Community Centre in Deane.

Ballroom, Latin, salsa, disco, sequence and line dancing . . . all have been taught by the couple over the years.

But now they have decided that it is the last waltz for them in this country and are heading for warmer climates.

Bolton-born Margaret, aged 68, is a retired school teacher who taught at Brandwood CP School in Deane and she was also a special needs leader at Castle Hill School, Tonge Moor.

Edwin, aged 69, owned two supermarkets at Hall i' th' Wood and Hulme.

The couple, who live in Barley Brook Meadow in Sharples, met at a ballroom dancing class when they were 15 and that was the beginning of their dancing partnership.

They spent some time working for Butlins and hosted dance holidays at various British resorts, including Torquay and Bournemouth.

Margaret said: "We love dancing and we've always fancied living abroad.

"We were approached by a couple of travel companies to teach abroad, so have decided to give it a go.

"I don't know exactly where we will be headed yet as we still have commitments here and we have to finalise our plans.

"I love Cyprus and Italy so they are likely to be included, but there are many other places I would like to try as well.

"I will really miss all our friends and family, especially our children and grandchildren.

"But I know they are all keen to come and visit, so I'm sure we'll have just as hectic a life out there as we do here -- but that's the way we like it!"
