THE QUEEN has praised Manchester's efforts in staging the Commonwealth Games in her Commonwealth Day message.
In her annual address she speaks of the success of the Games -- both as a great sporting and Commonwealth occasion.
She also acknowledges the tremendous expression of Manchester's community spirit throughout the event.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are due to celebrate Commonwealth Day at a Westminster Abbey service later on this afternoon.
