IVAN Campo is just one booking away from a two-match ban which could hit Wanderers hard during the crucial Premiership run-in writes Gordon Sharrock

The Real Madrid defender picked up his ninth booking of the season for a clumsy challenge on Danny Murphy in the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.

The Spaniard has already served one suspension since moving to the Reebok on loan in August, and would be handed an automatic ban which would test Sam Allardyce's options in central midfield.

The Anfield defeat also left question marks over the fitness of Bruno N'Gotty, who pulled up sharply late in the game with apparent hamstring trouble.

The Frenchman saw the game out, which suggests the injury may not have been serious, but with utility defenders Mike Whitlow and Paul Warhurst still struggling for fitness and striker Henrik Pedersen sidelined with a shoulder injury, Sam Allardyce can well do without even a hint of manpower problems at such a crucial phase of the season. Having recorded just one win in 10 Premiership games, Wanderers travel to bottom club Sunderland on Saturday one place above the relegation zone, ahead of third-bottom West Ham on goal difference.

They remain confident of winning the battle for survival but with the pressure mounting, know they need at least four wins from their final nine games to reach the manager's safety target of 38 points.
