RICARDO Gardner is determined to erase the memory of his derby nightmare as he concentrates on helping Wanderers collect the points that will guarantee their Premiership survival.
The jinking Jamaican took the rap for the last-gasp goal that cost the Whites two precious safety points and a famous victory over Manchester United at the Reebok last time out.
But, as he prepares for Saturday's crucial Premiership clash with Worthington Cup winners Liverpool at Anfield, he prefers to accentuate the positive aspects of how Wanderers came within seconds of inflicting a league double over Sir Alex Ferguson's United stars.
"I held my hand up at the end," Gardner confessed, reflecting on the wayward pass that led to David Beckham setting up Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the last-gasp equaliser.
"I know it was a mistake from me but I just have to put that behind me and focus on the game coming up - and try not to do what I did in the Manchester United game. We have to take the positives from the game - we just slipped up at the end. If we are as positive as that we could come out with three points.
"We are playing well at the moment but it's just the little mistakes at the end of games that have cost us."
The consequences of that derby draw - the fourth occasion this season when Wanderers have surrendered 1-0 leads in the final throes of crucial Permiership games - has been rammed home with two of their main rivals, West Ham and Birmingham City, scoring back-to-back victories.
With just 10 games to go, the pressure is on to produce an upturn in results to match the improvement in form they have shown in recent weeks.
Winning at Anfield is a tall order but Gardner says it is not beyond Wanderers' capabilities.
"We desperately need three points from it so we must give 110 per cent for the club and for the fans," he added.
"I really don't want to look who's behind us but catch the teams that are in front."
