THE plan to build a visitor centre in Little Lever sounds wonderful.
But will we be too scared to use it when it's completed?
Having lived in Little Lever for the past 40 years, I spent many happy hours walking along the canal with my son, and then with my grandsons. We went to Moses Gate Country Park to feed the ducks. It was a lovely way to spend summer afternoons. We also walked across to Farnworth.
Not any more, with muggers, perverts and now a rapist on the loose. The park has now become a very dangerous place, one to be avoided. The criminal element is spoiling it for decent people.
We need to have a lot more protection if our children and their children are to have the same freedom that we enjoyed many years ago.
