JUSSI Jaaskelainen is confident Wanderers can home in on Premiership survival.

Saturday's trip to Sunderland could be a landmark game in the relegation battle but the mighty Finn believes the Reebok could be their salvation.

Five of Wanderers' nine remaining fixtures are at home and the keeper is convinced that is where their safety can be assured.

"Sunderland away and West Ham at home are the big ones," he acknowledged, "but all the home games are big one for us now.

"It's going to be nice to have the home crowd behind us.

"I think we've been doing quite well at home and that's why I think it is still in our own hands."

Jaaskelainen raised a few eyebrows when he suggested Wanderers should adopt a more direct approach, using the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool to illustrate his points that they have a tendency to pass the ball too much in areas where they do not threaten the opposition.

That could mean relying less on the midfield talents of of Jay-Jay Okocha and Youri Djorkaeff and getting the ball forward much quicker to front-runners Salva Ballesta and Pierre-Yves Andre.

But Sam Allardyce may be reluctant to heap too much responsibility on the shoulders of his two loan strikers, who had no experience of Premiership football before arriving at the Reebok on transfer deadline day.
