BUDDING Jamie Olivers and Delia Smiths from Bolton showed off their culinary skills in a cooking competition.
The Bolton Master Chef competition, held at Bolton College's Grosvenor Restaurant, boasted the area's finest cooking talent.
Canon Slade pupils Lauren Mather and Jessica Macwilliam won with their chicken parcels and a dessert of fruit, marshmallows and cream.
Organiser Edwin Coope, of Bolton-le-Moors Rotary Club, was thrilled with the 120 pupils who originally entered the competition.
But 120 were soon whittled down to 16 -- eight pairs -- who competed against each other.
Pupils from Canon Slade, Hayward, Sharples, St Joseph's, Smithills and Rivington and Blackrod schools reached the Asda-sponsored final.
The top judge was Nigel Ainscow, proprietor of the Astley Bank Hotel, near Darwen, with the rest of the panel made up of representatives from Bolton College and Asda. All contestants took home a pizza plate and slicer and the winners won food processors.
