HEALTH chiefs in Greater Manchester have seen a worrying 50pc rise in the number of Hepatitis A cases in the first two months of the year.
The infection has sprung up in small pockets across Greater Manchester and around 20 cases have been confirmed so far. In an average 12 months, doctors expect to see between 60 and 100 cases. The infection, which can cause jaundice, is spread by people not washing their hands properly. In severe cases it can cause liver damage, but in most it is a mild infection.
