WALKERS are being warned that part of Entwistle Reservoir will be closed until the end of April.
United Utilities has already closed off a section south of the reservoir to carry out maintenance work.
Around 320 metres of footpath near to Edgworth and Chapletown are closed.
A United Utilities spokesman said: "Unfortunately we have to close off part of the footpath near to the work for heavy machinery to get in and out of the site.
"We have put up lots of signs around the area to ensure walkers don't set off on a walk only to discover they cannot get around the reservoir.
"The work started last week and is expected to last another six weeks and our workers will do their best to get it finished in that time.
"We apologise for any inconvenience the works will cause to local people and visitors to the area."
It is hoped work will be finished by April 25.
