A POPULAR paper boy and his dog have been collared by customers and delivered praise for their friendly nature and hard work.
Owners of the Belmont Road Newsagents, have been innundated with happy customers praising Tony Haythornthwaite, aged 13, and his golden retriever Robbie who have been delivering papers in Astley Bridge since October last year.
Store proprietor, Mrs Naqi said: "He is very popular and many customers have said how wonderful he and his dog are.
"He is always on time and Robbie is always on a lead and well behaved.
"Along with a tip for Tony, some customers even left presents for Robbie last Christmas which gives you an idea of how popular they have become!"
Regular customer Brenda Salt of Birkett Drive said: "He is very polite when I see him and often he is whistling when he walks up the drive. His dog is lovely."
Tony's father David said: "We originally sent Robbie out with Tony for protection but he has always been a keen walker and he can give the dog some excercise."
