Then there was the one where he said Sunderland were not involved in the relegation battle even though they were bottom of the table.

But my personal favourite was the one where he said Sunderland had to make sure they finished fourth best of the relegation fighters.

As there were only six serious contenders, that would leave them third bottom and relegated to Division One.
