PUPILS at a Breightmet school are being encouraged to eat healthier food.
Every Friday at Withins School has been designated a no chocolate and pop day to make way for a healthy selection of food and drink.
A selection of fruit is being sold in the school canteen and prices have been kept to a minimum to help youngsters stick to healthy options.
The numbers of children eating fresh fruit has shot up.
Headteacher Val Malcolm said: "I hope this pilot proves successful so that we can spread it to the whole week."
I am keen to ensure our pupils value their health now and for the future.
