A NEW scheme is being launched to stop conmen who burgle the homes of older people in Merseyside.
Age Concern is funding handymen and women to fit safety devices and carry out maintenance work for the elderly, deterring burglars. The charity's "Handyvan", unveiled in Birkenhead, will then be used to roll out five projects across Merseyside.
